Ellipsis Brewing at East Orlando Review
I have become a big fan of Ellipsis Brewing in the past year and I just had to share a review of it! This taproom is by the airport, so it’s a bit closer to us than other Orlando breweries, like Ten10. They also specialize in my favorite beers- New England IPA’s!
Even if you don’t like hazy brews, there’s still plenty for reasons to check out this brewery. They have 16 different taps and have recently started canning their beer. They also have a big open brewery that is dog friendly! Ellipsis Brewing has plenty of great things to offer to the Orlando brewing community and I’ll go into all of them in this review.
Location and Atmosphere
Ellipsis Brewing is conveniently located a few miles from the Orlando airport. This makes it the perfect spot to grab a beer before your flight or stop in while you are waiting to pick someone up from the airport. It’s about half an hour from other Orlando spots like Disney a World and Lake Eola. You will find it tucked away in an unassuming business park.
The inside is pretty bare bones as well. It kind of resembles a warehouse with its large ceilings. They have turned it into a comfy drinking spot though with lots of tables and chairs. They have some games, including a free air hockey table, which can be fun. There’s also a big chalkboard that we decided to right a message to the hurricane on last time we were here.
Ellipsis Brewing Beer Menu
The beer list at Ellipsis Brewing changes pretty frequently and they do not have any core beers. They occasionally bring back favorites, but I recommend getting there quickly if you see a beer you want to try before it’s gone!
IPA lovers will be happy here, especially ones who like New England IPA’s. Of the current sixteen beer tap list, eight of the options are IPA’s and six of them are hazy. We have tried a lot of different varieties and have found these to be excellent. They do a great job making a flavorful, juicy IPA. We recently tried the Brazil Loves New England IPA and thought this was one of their best. Apparently Brazil commonly makes drier New England IPA’s, so this was a take on that. By Your Powers Combined was your typical dank New England IPA and Cypto Currency is more of a typical juicy one.
The other half of the beer list is usually a mix of sours, saisons and a few German style beers. I’ve pretty much only tried the IPA’s and sours and been extremely happy with those. The milkshake ones are good, but I’ve had a few sours here that have a similar mouthfeel without lactose that are even better. Andrew has had a couple of the porters and was satisfied, but there’s no denying the IPA’s and sours are the best here.
Our Experience
We have been to Ellipsis brewing a few times now and the beer keeps getting better. The first time I went, I was mainly impressed with the IPA’s, but recently their sours have been on point as well. We usually try a lot of taster size beers when we go in lieu of a flight. Be warned that the prices on that can get expensive!
I mentioned above some of the beers in the past we have liked, but here is a list of our favorites.
- Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls • Sour – Berliner Weisse • 4% ABV
- Brazil Loves New England • IPA – New England • 5.8% ABV
- General SweetPants Ellipsis Brewing • IPA – New England • 7.5% ABV
- Ellipsis Ellipsicle Milk District • IPA – Milkshake • 7% ABV
- Y Can’t IBU • Pale Ale – New England• 5.1% ABV
We were lucky enough to get the first two in cans during our last visit so we could savor them at home. The Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls is definitely my favorite. It has six different kinds of fruit in it and basically tasted like a smoothie. I really enjoy the New England IPA’s as well though, especially Y Can’t IBU. They have a variation on tap of it with Simcoe that sounds intriguing as well as an Imperial Brazil Loves New England that I want to try.
Every time we have visited we have had a fun, relaxing time here. I do wish there was an outdoor area, but there are plenty of breweries to go to for that! We are hoping to go back soon because they are always releasing new and delicious sounding beers!
Ellipsis Brewing Events
Like most breweries, this is a community gathering spot. They host trivia weekly on Wednesdays with a variety of themes. This includes TV shows like Arrested Development and The Office and more general trivia, like 80’s night.
You can usually find food trucks here on the weekends and during trivia. In the past they have had options like Brunch Cafe Food Truck and and Chef City. Ellipsis Brewing also has popcorn in case you are hungry and there’s no truck. Occasionally, there is live music, so check their Facebook page for that.
A few times a year, they have holiday events. Coming up, they have a spooktacular event for Halloween. There will be a costume party and the release of three Halloween beers. They have even made a Boo Berry Berliner and a Count Chocula Stout! There have been similar events for St. Patrick;s Day and Christmas, so be on the lookout for fun things at this brewery all year.
