Geyser Point Bar & Grill at The Wilderness Lodge

img 3020In regards to WDW resorts, the Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World is severely under appreciated for all it has to offer. The monorail and boardwalk resorts tend to get all the love because they are easy to get to from the parks and have lots of character dining options. However the two lodges, Wilderness and Animal Kingdom, were designed so beautifully and really make your visit feel like a relaxing escape. Since the DVC expansion, the Wilderness Lodge has gotten some upgrades including another pool and improvements to the quick service area. The Geyser Point Bar and Grill was also built and serves as kind of a quick serve/sit down combination.

img 3016There are not many dining establishments like it, so it can be kind of confusing when you get there. My parents, Andrew and I stopped by for lunch and saw a counter service window as well as a lot of table seating by the water. We found a nice spot there and a waiter came over with a menus for the lounge and the counter service window. So if you want to take advantage of this gorgeous seating area you still can and order off either menu. If you go to the window, you will have to take your food to go, as it is mainly for servicing people at the pools to take their food to.

img 2986The menu is a mix of sandwiches and salads, in addition to a wide variety of appetizers. They also have a great bar selection, with mixed drinks and craft beer. We decided on Rough Ale’s Dead Guy Ale, which was tasted a lot better than the name would suggest. This Oregon brewed beer had a strong flavor mix of honey and hops that went well with the rustic atmosphere. We love seeing more craft beer options at Disney World, especially ones that are from the region they are imitating.  The cheesy barbecue brisket also sounded to good to pass up so we ordered that as an appetizer. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but had a great mix of cheddar and tender brisket and crispy chips to dip it in.

img 2985For lunch, I decided on the crab cake sandwich with a side of quinoa salad. The crab cake was delicious and had lots of crab meat and it complemented the bacon and cabbage slaw also on the sandwich. The quinoa salad was also a nice change for a side as opposed to fries, as it was very fresh and had lots of veggies in it.

img 2999 1Andrew opted for the more carnivorous option and got the Bison Cheeseburger. This has crispy onion straws on tops and a very tasty marionberry barbecue sauce. Andrew loved it so much he got a side of it dip his fries in. I tried and agreed that this is probably the best item on the menu, as the flavor profile is perfect between the bison burger and the other toppings. My parents split this in addition to the Grilled Chicken Salad, another item that was very enjoyable and unique with its hazelnuts and other toppings. Splitting the burger and the salad would be a good way to experience the taste of the Pacific Northwest, but keep things on the lighter side.img 3002

We were pretty impressed with everything we ordered, as it was way better than any other Disney resort quick service meal that we have had. I think it pays off making it a partial lounge because the atmosphere is a lot nicer, but there are still affordable food options. We spent some time exploring the resort, watching the nearby geyser go off and checking out the new Copper Creek Villas. If you are looking for a relaxing place to get away from the craziness of the Magic Kingdom, the Geyser Point Bar & Grill is just a short boat ride away! I have to recommend trying it sometime, as I know I will be back.img 3026
