The Hyatt Centric Las Olas – Review of our Stay
Hyatt has many hotels throughout Florida, however they were lacking one in Fort Lauderdale for the longest time. This has finally come to an end with this year’s opening of the stunning Hyatt Centric Las Olas! This luxurious spot is located right on Las Olas Boulevard making it the perfect place to stay for a Fort Lauderdale vacation.
We stayed here for three nights in September 2020 and were impressed with the room, amenities and dining. Though I still recommend staying at The Aqua for a budget vacation, the Hyatt Centric Las Olas is also pretty affordable for the quality received. Even better is paying in points, as it is only a Category 4 Hyatt. This post will include everything you need to know about staying at the Hyatt Centric Las Olas.
Location and Atmosphere
You will find this hotel at the very tip of Las Olas Boulevard putting it right between the beach and the esplanade area. I found this to be an excellent spot for experiencing all Fort Lauderdale has to offer. It is about 2.5 miles from the beach, so do not expect a beachfront vacation staying here. However, you can quickly Uber to the beach, while still being in walking distance to many of the best bars and restaurants. We walked to dinner every night and walked by the river and this made things so convenient.
The hotel is brand new and everything about it seems very modern from the outside. Inside however, it manages to appear sleek, yet cozy. The décor is aesthetically pleasing, with a slightly Floridian twist. The lobby features an open bar and restaurant, that includes outdoor seating. Higher floors include the common areas of a fitness center, business space and a spacious city view balcony, since most of the rooms do not have them.
Guest Rooms at the Hyatt Centric Las Olas
The rooms at the Hyatt Centric Las Olas are ideal for a couple’s getaway and had everything we needed. We got a king bed room and it was very spacious with large windows and an even larger TV. This TV had the best quality I have seen and we were able to cast our streaming accounts to it too. Other pros included the bed being very comfy and the plentiful closet space.
The bathroom was another highlight, as it had a rainfall shower! We are in the process of installing one in our shower, and were excited to have this amenity at the hotel as well. As far as the room went, there were no downsides. We appreciated the elevated features compared to older hotels we have stayed at.
Fort Lauderdale Hyatt Amenities
As far as amenities go, the Hyatt Centric Las Olas has a pretty standard offering for most city hotels. The rooftop pool is the highlight and it was actually on the rooftop for once! Most are just really on top of a parking garage. This offered an amazing view and there is even a bar up there to lounge at for enjoying city views. The pool lounges were of the cushiony type which was also a nice touch.
There was a larger than average gym here as well, with all the equipment one would need and lots of treadmills. They also have Peleton bikes for anyone who enjoys that workout program. If you rather go for a bike ride outside, they offer complimentary bike rentals ideal for exploring the city as well.
Dining Options at the Hyatt Centric Las Olas
If you are looking to eat at this hotel, Harborwood Urban Kitchen & Bar is open from 7 AM to 11 PM daily. This restaurant serves a variety of American cuisine, such as salads, tacos, burgers and seafood dishes. There is no free breakfast, unless you are a Globalist member. They do have Panther Coffee, which is one of the best local options around.
We did not dine at Harborwood, but we did have a few drinks there. They have happy hour every day from 4 – 6 PM and 9 – 11 PM. Here you can get an excellent selection of craft beer for $4, wine for $5 and Moscow Mules for $7. The Hyatt Centric Las Olas also has a pool bar with a variety of drinks and light bites to enjoy on the roof. And if you want to be really boujee, there is a champagne vending machine with all the Laurent-Perrier you could want!
There are also tons of amazing Fort Lauderdale bars and restaurants to enjoy all around the hotel. We walked to Rivertail, Rocco’s Tacos and YOLO all while we were staying here. In the morning, we also had an enjoyable walk to Project Coffee. I can’t emphasize enough how perfect this hotel is for exploring the city!
