Florida is usually an outdoor paradise with warm weather all year. However, between the heat and thunderstorms in the summer, many look for indoor Melbourne, Florida activities to experience. If you need to find something to do inside, this guide has all sorts of ideas.

I have compiled a list of 20 fun things to do indoors in Melbourne for all ages and budgets. This includes active, artsy, relaxing, and other unique indoor activities. If you want to get out of the house, but still need to stay inside, these are my recommendations for Melbourne, Florida indoor experiences.

First, I want to share ways to be active without being inside. Many people feel cooped up after days of rain or want to get exercise but can’t do so safely in the heat. These five Melbourne activities will get your adrenaline going while staying indoors!

1. Go Rock Climbing at On the Edge

If you are looking for a fun workout, rock climbing gyms are a great way to test your upper body strength and do some climbing. On the Edge has both rock walls and bouldering walls that offer a variety of challenges. This is great for young and old to have fun on a rainy day.

2. Take an Aerial Yoga Class

Another way to get a unique workout indoors is to try aerial yoga. Though it may look intimidating, it is relatively easy and freeing to hang from silk ropes. Yogi Perogi offers aerial yoga classes every day of the week for any skill level.

3. Play a Game of Bowling at Bowlero

For a fun indoor game, head to Bowlero for a few games of bowling. Not only do they have glow bowling lanes and fun music playing, but you can also eat and drink while playing! Kids and parents will love testing their bowling skills here.

4. Get Your Om on at the Yoga Garden

For yogis looking for a peaceful retreat, I love the atmosphere of the Yoga Garden on a rainy day. These indoor yoga classes are quite soothing and are offered for multiple skill levels. You can take a class here and then grab a coffee from Anaya for a cozy, rainy day in Melbourne, Florida.

5. Go Gokarting and More at Route 7 Adrenaline Warehouse

One of my favorite things to do in Melbourne any day is race go-karts at the Route 7 Adrenaline Warehouse! This is the best go-karting course on the Space Coast and you can race around the track as many times as you like. In addition to go-karts, Adrenaline Warehouse also has all sorts of stuff to do inside including laser tag, arcade games, and a ropes course that will entertain you on a rainy day.

Artsy Things to Do Inside in Melbourne, Florida

Rainy days are great for getting your creativity flowing and Melbourne, Florida has all sorts of fun places to do just that. Whether you want to be inspired by a live performance or work on a craft. These next ideas are for those who want to do something artsy inside on a rainy or too-hot day.

6. Paint a Ceramic Piece of Art at Get Fired Up Pottery

For a hands-on art experience, painting pottery is a fun way to liven up a rainy day. You can try it at Get Fired Up in Downtown Melbourne. A few hours here will keep both kids and adults busy creating colorful designs.

7. This Little Light of Mine Candle Making

Another fun craft to do indoors is candle making. This Little Light of Mine has candle-pouring classes every week on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. You can do it on your own or with friends. Either way, you will have a unique candle that will remind you of this memorable experience each time you light it!

8. Make Your Own Wooden Sign

For a useful and artsy craft, Board and Brush will help you create wooden art for your home. They offer all sorts of workshops where you can learn everything from wood design to glass etching! With complimentary beer and wine, this makes for a fun girl’s night out or date night on a rainy day in Melbourne.

9. See a Show at Funky Dog Improv

If you are looking for a laugh, Funky Dog Improv is the best place to go in Melbourne for comedy. They have weekly shows where you can see the wild things these comedians come up with when improvising. For those who rather try out comedy themselves, there are also drop-in classes on the last Thursday of every month for a unique evening indoors.

10. Catch a Show at the King Center

Melbourne has some excellent theater with a variety of acts frequently performing at the King Center. Plan an indoor date to see a Broadway show like CHICAGO or standup comedy from the likes of Jerry Seinfeld for an unforgettable night.

There’s no better time for self-care than a rainy day and Melbourne, Florida has plenty of ways to treat yourself. 12. Do a Tasting at the Mansion

For an indoor guided tasting. The Cellars at The Mansion is an awesome place to go. Here, they feature weekly tastings of different spirits and wines and you can try a variety of flights. It’s a great way to find out what you like to drink.

13. Watch a Film at Premiere Oaks

Going to a movie theater is an obvious indoor activity for when it rains, but Melbourne has the gorgeous Premiere Oaks Theater, which makes it more of an experience. In addition to seeing movies of any genre, you can have a meal or drink at Hemingway’s afterward. 

14. Shop for Plants at Frida’s

I find plants to be so relaxing and I love treating myself to a trip to the plant store. Frida’s has so many gorgeous plants to purchase and you can learn about how to grow them. Afterward, stop by Apocalypse coffee next door for a coffee or snack to have the ultimate rainy day experience.

15. Have a Flight of Craft Beer

Another fun way to spend some time indoors is to visit a brewery. Melbourne has a few options, but my favorite for relaxing indoors is Hell n’ Blazes. Here you can get a flight and try all sorts of different craft beers. There is even a game room to maximize your fun indoors!

Unique Rainy Day Activities In Melbourne

Lastly, I want to share some uniquely Melbourne, Florida things to do indoors when it is raining. These are ideal for the whole family and offer an interactive experience to have together. They all just don’t really fit in the other categories! Here are my final ideas for indoor Melbourne, Florida activities.  

16. Blast off at the Kennedy Space Center

Though it’s an hour’s drive to the Kennedy Space Center, this is another nearby activity perfect for a rainy day. The rocket garden is the only outdoor exhibit, and the rest are inside with all sorts of space things to see and do. There is a launch simulator ride, presentations from astronauts and immersive 3D movies, all less than an hour from Melbourne.

17. Challenge Yourself at an Escape Room

Brevard County is home to many escape rooms, each with unique puzzles and challenges! One favorite is Escape Room Entertainment where you must figure out how to take down a mafia. Even if you have done one before, there are always new challenges (and even a seasonal Christmas one!) that make it worth checking out an escape room for a rainy-day activity. 

18. Take a Cooking Class at the Gathering Table

If you are looking to up your cooking skills, Downtown Melbourne provides the perfect opportunity for that. The Gathering Table has weekly classes where you can learn a number of cooking techniques from making homemade pasta to rolling your own sushi. At the end, you get to eat your creation as well and leave with the knowledge to cook it at home in the future! Check to see if there is any availability for an educational and tasty rainy evening.

19. Try Your Hand at Ax Throwing

When the weather outside is frightful, you can try your hand at being a lumberjack. The Lumber Jack Ax House in Melbourne is open for anyone over age 10 to throw axes. There are plenty of lanes so you can go individually or with a group and see who has the best ax-handling skills.

For anyone that wants to relive the 80’s, Game Over Arcade bar offers all your favorite arcade games to enjoy in a bar setting.
