St. Augustine Beach Hotel – Courtyard by Marriott

img 2270On our recent trip to St. Augustine, we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in St. Augustine Beach. There are a variety of hotel options in the St. Augustine area that are mainly broken up by beach side, in the town or by the highway. By the highway had your basic chains of varying quality, with probably the best being the TRYP by Wyndham. The town has everything from luxury hotels privately owned and part of hotel conglomerates, to cozy bed and breakfasts, to a few motels. We wanted to stay in town so we could walk to everything, but we booked pretty late so there wasn’t a lot left. So we ended up beach side which was still pretty convenient. This area is more beach vacation hotels that are mainly chains as well and more aimed at families.img 2267The Courtyard Marriott St. Augustine beach was very similar to the Courtyard Marriott’s we have stayed before. It was very clean and accommodating, with a quick check-in and out. We were able to check in early to get ready for the wedding we were going to easily. We got a king room, which had a nice comfy bed and a small lounge area. The mural in the bedroom was an abstract colorful design I have seen at others before.img 2271The bathroom was typical, but again very clean and had everything we needed. There was a mural of Castillo San Marcos on the wall, which is the nearby fort so that was a nice touch. There is also a basic gym and pool. If you have Marriott points or want a no frills hotel that is sure to please, this one will work. The people at the front desk were especially nice and handed us cold water bottles when we returned from the wedding, which we were grateful for the next day.img 2374I would recommend this hotel if you are coming to St. Augustine for a family beach trip. If you are looking to explore the town, it definitely seems more convenient to stay there so you can be within walking distance and not have to pay to park or uber. I think an adult couple would definitely prefer the romantic vibe of the historic town as well, even if you do plan to go to the beach. This hotel was just what we needed for our quick weekend getaway and is more than adequate for more most travelers. We would love to come back for their holiday Night of Lights and hopefully we can find a hotel in town for that!
