Thanksgiving 2015
We went to the buffet Fresh at the Dolphin Hotel for a big Thanksgiving lunch. This was mainly because I forgot to book the reservation 180 days out, so this was one of the few left. We would have preferred Boma or Cape May Café like we have done in past years, as they are more worth the price with their many different cuisine types. Also Andrew and I can usually eat our weight in crab legs so Cape May Café is usually our favorite. Fresh had a traditional Thanksgiving meal with a few different items. The dessert was amazing as well, not that I could fit much of it!
We all started with salads, soup, and some meat and cheese. I loved the selection of brie and gouda they had and we all enjoyed the Italian meats. I also liked the marinated olives. The butternut soup was excellent and I wish I had had seconds! For the main meal there was turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and stuffing of course. They were all good, probably not as good as my parents make them! They also had some different things like sea bass and mushroom risotto, but we were not blown away with the execution. The main issue with this buffet though was it was one long line as opposed to having multiple places to join in like other Disney ones. We got annoyed having to wait around so much. The desserts were great though, Andrew was a huge fan of the crème brûlée and I loved the mini pies!
Another perk of this meal was the 2 included glasses of wine. This did add a lot to the meal. We were all stuffed but decided to head over to the Grand Floridian to see some decorations. They had the beautiful tree and gingerbread house as usual. We love seeing it and smelling it every year!
Here’s the whole gang! Every year Andrew, Nancy and I have done this, but sometimes we have a tagalong. Eryk joined this year for the first time, although he was there for cooking with us once.
Here’s us posing on the 2nd floor of the Grand Floridian! We have pretty much taken pictures here every year for the past 4 years.
We also went to the Contemporary and saw the Frozen gingerbread house. It was very cute and we had to get a picture by the little Sven! After this we went to the Disney Springs for a little Christmas shopping. I got my mom a Christmas present that I hope she likes!
It was another great Thanksgiving! I am not sure if we will finally go back home next year or continue with this, but it is always nice to be able to go to our second home for the holidays.
