Andrew and I decided to spend our anniversary by taking a weekend trip to Miami. We had never been before, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to visit. After driving down, we started out the day with brunch at American Social. This was a trendy restaurant by the water that also happened to be serving free mimosas to ladies on Saturday. I had to take advantage of that! I got an Eggs Benedict with it that was very good. Andrew got a duck confit hash which he found to be well cooked and flavorful.
After that we checked into our hotel and then took an uber to south beach! We went to the Cleavlander first, where there was a DJ competition in their pool and bar area. We got a few drinks and enjoyed the different DJ mixes. There was a lot of fun people watching.
We had wanted to go swimming there but it was very crowded so we went over to the Highbar pool which was a lot nicer for lounging. They had a pool on the roof top and we laid back for a bit and took in the sights.
After that, we went to dinner at Cecconis which I will cover in the Miami Food post. Later we headed back to our hotel on the Mainland and then decided to check it the rooftop bar next door. It had some great sights of the city!
The next morning we started the day at the amazing Taquiza for breakfast. I still can’t get over how good it was.
Then we walked around Lincoln Ave for a bit where there were lots of stores and things to see. We wanted to check out more of the art of Miami, but it was so hot out, we were sweating from just half an hour of walking around. So we decided it was pool time again, but we left south beach and went to the Venetian pool in Coral Gables.
This was a beautiful looking pool with waterfalls and caves. It was really fun to swim around and explore/ also it was cool and refreshing, unlike the other pools we had been in which were on the warm side. It was really crowded so we couldn’t really relax anywhere, but it was fun to hang out at for a couple hours.
After this, we had another amazing culinary experience which was the sushi burrito! It was so good and filling. From there, our wallets had had enough, so we decided to head back to Melbourne.
It was such a fun weekend and I feel really lucky that we have the opportunities to travel to new places. I would love to go back to Miami now that I know some more about it, but we may need to save up for a few years considering how expensive everything is! It is a really fun and beautiful place go visit.
