The 6 Best Breweries in St. Pete, Florida to Visit in 2024

I have been all over Florida trying breweries from Fort Myers to the Space Coast, but I have to say St. Petersburg is my favorite brewery destination. Though Tampa is a close contender, I always find myself coming back to St. Pete seeking out the breweries on this list! After many visits, I can definitively say these are six best breweries in St. Pete, Florida.

Though there are at least a dozen breweries in St. Pete, I want to highlight what makes this selection so special. This post will contain which places I recommend going for craft beer styles, atmosphere, food and more. Of course, if you are in the St. Pete area, it is worth branching out and trying some of the nearby Tampa and Clearwater breweries as well. However, even if you only stick to this list, you will not be disappointed with these six St. Petersburg, Florida breweries.

Green Bench Brewing Company

Starting off with possibly the best brewery in St. Pete is Green Bench Brewing Co. on the west end of downtown. This Black-owned brewery has literally everything you can imagine, including a picturesque biergarten, a diverse tap list and lots of fun events. You may have seen some of their core beers being distributed throughout Florida, including the Sunshine City IPA and the Postcard Pils.

Though they do have excellent IPAs like the Turbid 7 New England, this brewery also has made some amazing strides in mixed culture, sour and wild ales. So much so that across the biergarten is a barrel aging facility where you can try these unique brews. I recommend getting a beer (or a flight) from each venue and enjoying them on the lawn in the middle., Even better, if you like Mexican food, grab a burrito next door from Red Mesa Mercado and bring it over to Green Bench for the perfect St. Pete food and drink combination.

Dissent Craft Brewing Company

One brewery that is new on the radar of the best breweries in St. Pete, is Dissent Craft Brewing Co., located five miles north of downtown. Though its strip mall store front may not seem like much, inside you will find a lively, friendly craft brewery and a top-notch beer selection. You can enjoy pints and flights on comfy chairs or at the bar, and they also allow dogs inside too!

The menu includes an always rotating selection, with unique choices like a Creamsicle Berliner and a Bourbon Aged Old Ale. There is definitely an emphasis on IPAs and sours, but you can usually find a few lager and pilsner options, as well as wine and cider for any non-beer drinkers.  If you are in the mood for food, be sure to check out their Facebook page for the food truck schedule and fun events like a charcuterie board assembling class!

Cycle Brewing

Tied for first place with Green Bench is Cycle Brewing. By far one of the best breweries in St. Pete, if not the best, Cycle Brewing can be found in the heart of downtown with its quirky, bicycle themed taproom. Though this has a much more city vibe than Green Bench, I love the industrial feel and option to sit in the shade of the garage, but still enjoy the open air.

Cycle established itself as a St. Pete classic years ago, with its barrel-aged stouts that always sell out during Craft Beer week. You can now find core beers like the Crank IPA and the Cream + Sugar Please Coffee Porter in stores, but you will have to go to the brewery to find their cutting age brews. My favorites include DIPA’s like LDR and stouts like Rare DOS, but the tap list is always changing. These serve almost entirely Stouts and IPAs, but even if that is out of your comfort zone, I recommend trying Cycle at least once!

Pinellas Ale Works

All of the St. Pete breweries I have mentioned so far are pet-friendly, but by far the most pet friendly is Pinellas Ale Works (aka PAW).  Located on the west edge of downtown, this dog-themed brewery is open to pups inside and out! This includes the cozy taproom and the shaded biergarten.

PAW is always coming out with creative brews, like the Horchata Rice Ale I recently tried, and Andrew’s favorite, the Smoky Red Ale. They often have at least twenty beers on tap, so there is something for everyone to try! There is also a permanent food truck now at the brewery with nachos, sandwiches and chicken wings if you are hungry. With events like Friends Fur-Ever Valentine’s and Dog Days of Summer, any animal lover will have a blast at this St. Petersburg brewery, whether they bring their dog or not!

3 Daughters Brewing

If you are looking for a fun atmosphere, then 3 Daughters is definitely one of the best breweries in St. Pete for it! This warehouse style taproom is just west of downtown St. Petersburg and is always a party to visit. They have multiple game rooms with ping pong, darts, shuffle board and board games. Outside there are corn hole boards and often live music as well. If you are seeking a St. Pete brewery tour, you can even take one here!

Of course, though 3 Daughters is a dynamic, family friendly place to hang out, they also serve excellent craft beer. You may have seen core beers like the Beach Blonde Ale and the Rod Bender Red Ale throughout Florida, but you can try all sorts of options at the brewery. They tend to have a good mix of core beers and I always love the Stern Line Oatmeal Stout and their Apple Cider.

The tap list covers many beer styles in addition to cider, hard seltzer, and more. Hungry visitors will be happy to know that this St. Pete brewery has food too, and the menu includes sandwiches and bar food to enjoy with your beer! This is ideal because between the beer and the atmosphere, we always stay here for hours.

St. Pete Brewing Company

One last downtown St. Pete brewery you have to try is aptly named St. Pete Brewing Company. This one is conveniently located a couple blocks from my favorite local hotel, the Hyatt Place St. Pete. It is an indoor taproom with some street seating and a laidback vibe, perfect for a relaxing trip to St. Pete.

You can usually find core beers like the Orange Wheat Ale and the Grateful Stout on the tap list, but St. Pete Brewing Co. has at least a dozen beers to try at all times. The beer here is more on the classic side with a focus on ales, wheat beers and European styles. I recommend getting a flight of six to try a variety and stay a while enjoying the live music or playing the video games here. You can even order food next door to optimize your time at one of the best breweries in St. Pete.
