Must-Visit Restaurants for Eating Out in West Palm Beach
I have been visiting Palm Beach since I could barely walk and have extremely fond memories of vacationing here. Many of these include food and all the excellent places to eat we would find. Though this area is just north of Miami and often overlooked in regards to dining, West Palm Beach is full of trendy fine dining restaurants and divey hidden gems to try.
This guide has thirty different options for where to eat. I have broken it up by budget, with options for everything from affordable meals to extravagant feasts. By Palm Beach, I am including the area from Jupiter down to Lake Worth, so there are plenty of options for whatever area you are in!
Affordable Places to Eat in Palm Beach
The following ten restaurants are ideal for a casual beach day or a quick bite in the area. You do not need reservations and most on this part of the list are counter-service spots. Expect meals to be less than $20 and cheaper for kids. Though the price is small, you can still have just as good of a meal at these spots, as you can at the more expensive ones in the next sections.
1. Dune Dog Cafe – Beach Bites Stand
A lot of people think of this as a ritzy area, however, it does have plenty of casual places to eat. Dune Dog Cafe is a family favorite known for, you guessed it, hot dogs! There are different types of hot dogs to order, in addition to seafood, wings, and burgers for whatever mood you are in. Make sure to check their nightly specials to enjoy a budget-friendly meal here.
2. Rivales Taqueria and Craft Bar – Authentic Tacos
It can be hard to find good Mexican food in South Florida, but Rivales Taqueria is one of the standouts. This cozy spot has twelve different kinds of tacos to choose and most are less than $4 apiece. In addition, you can also get burritos, bowls, quesadillas, and chimichangas here. It’s located in Downtown West Palm Beach and is perfect for any time of day.
3. Paris in Town – Crepes
For a European breakfast or lunch, I like to visit Paris in Town. This adorable cafe has sweet and savory crepes made just like the French make them. You can also find sandwiches and salads on the menu and even a French wine or pastries to go with your meal. If you are seeking a relaxing yet chic meal, this is a perfect mid-day treat.
4. Cucina Pizza – Customizable Pizza
For those looking for a fresh and customizable meal, Cucina Pizza is the place. It is basically a Blaze-style pizza place, but so much more authentic! There are over thirty different toppings to choose from, as well as pasta and sandwich options.
5. Jupiter Donuts – Morning Sweets
One bakery that I can’t resist visiting every time I am in town is Jupiter Donuts. This is seriously my favorite place to get donuts in Florida and they have so many different kinds. You won’t regret stopping by and getting a dozen, regardless of whether you get candy bar ones like the Twix Donut or fruity ones like the Chocolate Banana.
6. Howley’s – Retro Diner
If you love a retro experience, Howley’s, a 1950’s diner, is a must-visit! You can step back in time at this classic diner serving up comfort food like brisket with mashed potatoes and tuna melts. The vibe makes it a local favorite, and even better it is open until midnight!
7. Your Greek Cousin – Fast Casual Mediterranean
For a healthy and flavorful meal, Your Greek Cousin is a delicious counter-service option. They serve all sorts of Greek delicacies with a bit of a twist! My favorite is the Almighty Gyro with fresh fries in the pita. For sticking with the healthier options there are salads and the spicy falafel.
8. Field of Greens – Salads and Sandwiches
For a casual lunch, Field of Greens makes quick meals for breakfast and lunch with gourmet flavors. With four locations, you can find something for everyone, from a vegan avocado grilled cheese to crunchy kale caesar salads. You do not have to sacrifice a healthy lunch for flavor when dining at one of their cafes.
9. Havana – Cuban Sandwiches
When in South Florida, you must have an authentic Cuban meal. Havana is just the place and there is even a 24-hour walk-up window! You can go here for a sit-down meal, but I enjoy ordering a classic Cuban sandwich for only $10. It’s super filling! Make sure you get some Cuban coffee to wake you up after such a big meal as well!
10. Grandview Public Market – Food Hall
I hesitated to include Grandview Public Market in this section, but ultimately I think it fits the bill. This food hall has ten different counters to order food from all day, with everything from fresh poke to smokehouse style barbecue. Since it’s not a typical counter-service restaurant, I find most meals to be under $20, although it can get more expensive than that. It’s a great spot for groups with different tastes or just people who like to try different cuisines!
Moderately Priced Options
For this next section, you can expect a meal to be between $20 and $40 per person at these restaurants. They are all table service and some may require a reservation, so click on the link to the restaurant if you are interested in dining there. The following options are still very casual, although you would not look out of place in coastal cocktail attire either.
11. Hokkaido Hibachi and Sushi – Sushi and Hibachi
I’ve been to a bunch of sushi spots in the area and I have found my favorite to be Hokkaido Hibachi and Sushi. We came across here for lunch one day and were very impressed with the lunch specials on sushi! If you are in the area for a Spring Training game, this is an excellent spot to grab a bite after. We have had both sushi and hibachi and have always had a fantastic experience.
12. Waterway Cafe – Tropical Seafood
Waterway Cafe is actually where we had our rehearsal dinner, so you know I had to include it! This restaurant is classic West Palm, right on the water off PGA Boulevard. It is known for its tropical ambiance and many seafood dishes. However, it’s also a great place to go for brunch or happy hour with a view!
13. The Hive – Preppy Lunch
If you want to dine in style for breakfast or lunch, check out The Hive Bakery and Café. This darling café has an impressive array of artisanal bread, pastries, and savory delights. I recommend coming here for brunch or lunch to enjoy one of their fancy toasts or salads. However, if you are short on time, at least stop by for a coffee, a couple of cookies, and a look around their home décor store.
14. Copacabana Cuban Cuisine – Authentic Cuban Food
Another Cuban spot that I love in this area is Copacabana Cuban Cuisine. While the sandwiches to-go are my favorite in Havana, I recommend coming to this Abacoa spot for the heavenly main dishes. I have yet to be disappointed here and have a hard time deciding between the Ropa Vieja or the Pollo Asado. We also tend to get a bunch of appetizers and end up with so many leftovers.
15. Guanabana’s – Tiki Bar Dining
For a true Florida vacation experience, you have to visit Guanabana’s. This Jupiter restaurant is at a picturesque spot on the water with plenty of room at the Tiki Bar. Not only are there islandy dishes like Fish Tacos and Grilled Pineapple Chicken, but there is also very frequent live music. It’s just the place to end the day with a cold drink!
16. Calaveras Cantina – Upscale Mexican
Calaveras Cantina can be found conveniently in the coastal Harbourside Place town center of Jupiter, just south of Tequesta. This is another hidden gem in an area with all sorts of taco and margarita options. Drinks are a highlight here, as they have almost 100 tequilas and mezcals to choose from and even flights to enjoy. For food, Andrew and I like to split the fajitas and a few sides, like rice and beans, street corn, and of course tableside guacamole! It feels like a fiesta every time we come here!
17. Thirsty Turtle Seagrill – Relaxing Floriibean
Over in Juno Beach, Thirsty Turtle Seagrill is the spot locals flock to after a day at the beach or on the boat. We have come here a few times after scuba diving and always enjoy the seafood selection. The fish is always extremely fresh and they will even cook what you catch if you have been so lucky! It’s a very beachy place to relax with some good food and catch a live band on the weekends.
18. City Cellar – Romantic Italian
There are a ton of Italian restaurants in the area, but my favorite is City Cellar. It’s located at the Square, and there is even a balcony to sit out and get a view. We have always had amazing service here in addition to being blown away by the food and wine continually! One other thing I love is that they will split the pasta dish for two without a charge, so Andrew and I have enough room for the tangy caeser and dessert after. City Cellar is perfect for a romantic date night that won’t break the bank.
19. Kapow Noodle Bar – Ramen and Pan Asian
If you love ramen, then you do not want to miss Kapow Noodle Bar. They have amazing Pork Belly Tonkotsu and so many other tasty types of noodle dishes. I would consider KaPow to be Chinese and Japanese food with a twist, as there are so many unique things to order here. If you prefer to have a shared meal, there are all sorts of dim sum options like Lobster Rangoon and Kapow Crack Fries. I have eaten here a couple of times and it is always an unforgettable experience!
20. Salute Market – Napa Valley Style Dining
Salute Market is a modern market and restaurant perfect for brunch, lunch, and dinner. I prefer eating on the gorgeous patio for a vibey atmosphere, but there is inside seating as well, in addition to a wine market! We love coming here for brunch because they have a great mix of breakfast and lunch options. If you come for dinner, make sure to try something from the Monthly Feature Menu, which always has unique dishes.
21. Little Moir’s Food Shack – Foodie Creations
A foodie favorite in Jupiter is Little Moir’s, Food Shack. This unassuming strip mall spot was started by one of the most famous chefs in the area and it is always churning out new and unique dishes. Last time we went, we had the mouthwatering Grown Up Mac-n-Cheese, which includes a savory garlic sriracha cheese sauce. They have pretty much everything on the menu from Korean BBQ to Feta Drizzled Eggplant Fries, so as long as you like tasty food, you will find something to love here!
Palm Beach Restaurants to Splurge At
The last ten options are the best of the best. These are the places you want to go to celebrate a special occasion or just to treat yourself. I have not been to all of these fine dining locales, but each is well-renowned throughout the county. A meal will cost at least $40 and definitely more if you order an alcoholic beverage. You will want to dress up a little for your meal or at the very least change out of your beach attire for these places. I think every vacation here deserves a meal at one of these high-end spots!
22. Agora Mediterranean Kitchen – Fresh European
For a meal that transports you to the luxurious Mediterranean, visit Agora Kitchen in West Palm Beach. This restaurant focuses on Turkish cuisine for a meal you really can’t find anywhere else. The space itself is gorgeously decorated with authentic textiles and lighting that sets the tone. For food, you can get anything from Grilled Bronzini to Chicken Shish, as well as a variety of Mezes.
23. Jetty’s Waterfront Restaurant – Coastal Elegance
Jetty’s Waterfront Restaurant is where everyone in Jupiter goes for a splurge meal. You can eat outside right on the water between the sparkling sea and the extravagant yachts. Not surprisingly, seafood is the main appeal here and I remember having Mahi Mahi for the first time here on vacation in middle school! There is also a lovely steak selection for anyone in a surf and turf mood. Between the food and the scenery, it’s an ideal coastal dinner.
24. Buccan – Inventive American
One place every foodie should visit is Buccan. This Clay Conley restaurant is known for taking seasonal ingredients and making a masterpiece with them. This spot puts care into crafting everything on the plate. From a King Salmon with curried lentils, lacinato kale, and a cucumber salad to the best dry-aged NY strip you can find, you will be shocked by how well the meals go together and how delicious every component is.
25. Avocado Grill – Tapas With a Twist
My favorite restaurant for a splurge meal is the Avocado Grill because I love tapas! This spot has an adorable tropical retro theme and a funky menu to go with it. We never miss getting the Sesame Crusted Tuna Tataki and the flavorful Ginger Guacamole, along with three or four other small plates. They do have large plates as well in case anyone wants the risotto or a prime burger to themselves, but sharing is caring at this restaurant!
26. The Circle at The Breakers – Extravagant Brunch
For a brunch you will never forget, I recommend going for the ultimate splurge at The Breakers The Circle. It’s a whopping $195 per person, but it includes all the indulgent food and drinks you can stomach! Brunch is housed in a magnificent hall with a live harpist and rows of raw bars and dessert tables. Though you can get buttermilk pancakes and omelettes here, I recommend saving room for the sushi, caviar, imported cheese, and carved beef tenderloin. In addition to amazing food, you also get to check out this historic resort that defines Palm Beach. I have yet to do this, but it is definitely on my bucket list!
27. Table 26 Palm Beach – Classic Fine Dining
One spot I hear recommended frequently for classic fine dining is Table 26 Palm Beach. Though it looks unremarkable from the outside, the inside holds an elegant and bright dining room. Favorites include Crab Cake with Habanero tartar and micro greens and the grilled Spanish Octopus. There are plenty of less daring eats too, like the pigs in a blanket and the meatloaf that still provide a little whimsy for picky eaters. If The Breakers Brunch is a bit out of your price range, Table 26 is the next best thing.
28. Ristorante Santucci – Upscale Pasta and Seafood
For a fancy Italian meal, there are a lot of options, but Ristorante Santucci is the best you can get. This restaurant was opened by two brothers from Sicily and you would be hard-pressed to find a more authentic Italian spot! The menu has all the best insalata options and a variety of house-made pasta.
29. RH Rooftop West Palm – Comfort Food With a View
If you like a nice view with your meal, then I recommend the RH Rooftop West Palm. This restaurant at The Square has one of the most relaxing atmospheres I have seen with indoor and outdoor space and full-size trees! The menu is simple with just a few appetizers, salads, and mains like a roast chicken or a lobster roll. The food gets rave reviews, but the real experience here is about having a drink with a majestic view.
30. Pistache French Bistro – French Fine Dining
I am ending the list with the quintessential West Palm Beach dining experience. Located on Clemantis, at Pistache French Bistro you can indulge in authentic French cuisine, like escargots and coq au vin. Between the amazing service and the elevated meal choices, this is a restaurant sure to impress visitors and locals alike.
Know Before You Go
Even though I included thirty-one places to eat on this list, there are still so many more to try! This should cover most price ranges and tastes for whatever type of meal you desire. Here are some things to keep in mind when planning which of these top restaurants to visit!
- During Snow Bird season, there can be a long wait to get in at many places. Check to see if any offer reservations, especially for the more high-end restaurants!
- Many of these spots offer outdoor seating so you can take advantage of the beautiful weather! Check the website ahead of time to see if they allow dogs on the patio too.
- It is customary to tip at least 20% in West Palm Beach and most restaurants do not include this in the final bill unless you have a large party.
- For a quick meal, stick to the affordable restaurant’s section, as many of those are counter-service.
- Make sure to ask for a kids’ meal if needed, as almost every option listed here has one.
- The beach areas of Palm Beach are mostly casual with a few exceptions. There is only a dress code for a couple of the fine dining restaurants on this list, but you will rarely be out of place in a sundress or a polo!
