Third Culture Kitchen at Titusville Review

Today I’m sharing a restaurant review for a place I think everyone should try! I have been hearing a lot of good things about Third Culture Kitchen and finally went to Titusville to see for myself. After tasting a good portion of the menu, I am extremely impressed!

My parents live close to Third Culture Kitchen and dine there occasionally. We were staying with them during Hurricane Dorian and saw it was one of the few places open for lunch before the storm hit. We decided to go and ended up having a wonderful experience. I’ll review everything we tried and share what you need to know before visiting!

Location and Atmosphere

You will find Third Culture Kitchen in the southern part of Titusville, just a few miles up the road from another favorite of mine, The Brix Project. Part of the reason I hadn’t dined here yet is because I can’t resist the Brix Project when I’m up this way. I was surprised to see it simply off a highway, with a really cute exterior.

There is a covered patio area with fans and then a decent amount of space indoors. The restaurant is a fusion spot with influences from Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Southern cuisine and more! You can tell this from the design, as it is a mix of different tiles and colors. The vibe definitely feels like a worldly cafe.

We sat in a corner booth inside when we visited, but I would have preferred the patio, had it not been tropical storm weather outside! There are about six seats that are first come first serve at the bar as well, for busy nights. Regardless of where you sit, the atmosphere is comfy and inviting.

The Drinks at Third Culture Kitchen

This restaurant has a full service bar, with all sorts of cocktails to try. Currently, the drink menu at Third Culture Kitchen includes classic cocktails like an Old Fashioned and Sazerac, as well as unique ones like “The King in Yellow” apricot, tequila, mezcal drink. The drinks cost around $10 a piece. When I was there, they were offering lime, blood orange, and strawberry margaritas and they were all super refreshing!

They also are known for having some of the best drink deals around! You can frequently find happy hours during lunch time where cocktails and margaritas are between $3 and $5. If you don’t want liquor, there is also a small selection of wine and beer. For non-alcoholic drinks, there is soda and iced tea.

The Third Culture Kitchen Menu

The menu is split up into small plates, handhelds, bowls, and entrees and you will be able to find any sort of cuisine here! The appetizers range from a Mexican Flatbread, to Veggie Spring Rolls, to Fried Chicken. Most of the small plates are around $5 and are the perfect way to start your meal. I would definitely recommend getting a main dish as opposed to just small plates though. The sandwiches, street tacos and baos all come with creative toppings. This is definitely the only place around you can find a BBQ Shrimp Bao!

The entrees have even more fusion flair to them. Popular choices include the Spicy Pineapple Beef & Broccoli and the Coconut Shrimp Bowl. I personally, think the curry or the fried chicken are the best things on the menu, as I’ll explain more below. Unlike other local restaurants, there are plenty of vegetarian options, in addition to menu items that they will modify to be vegetarian. I found the cauliflower tacos to be a great choice for vegans, especially with the rice and beans on the side. The menu also includes quite a few gluten free options.

If you happen to be in the area on Sunday, Third Culture Kitchen hosts brunch from 10 AM – 2 PM. This menu is full of intriguing dishes, like strawberry ad pineapple french toast and a queso burger. A selection of the regular menu is available at brunch, as well as $5 Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas!

Our Experience

I mentioned above that we came here right before a hurricane hit, so I wasn’t expecting it to be a flawless experience. However, they were clearly understaffed and still managed everything wonderfully! Besides a long wait for a table, we had a smooth experience once we were seated.

We started with a round of margaritas because they were only $3.50 for the hurricane special. My Dad and I got lime margaritas, my sister Blood Orange and my mom Strawberry. They were all very tasty and pretty strong! Mine was a bit sweeter than I typically like, and if you prefer your margaritas not sweet, the blood orange was the best bet. Andrew got an Intracoastal Brewing lager on tap that was refreshing as well.

We also ordered a couple of appetizers, because we were not sure if too would take a while to get our food. In a very gluttonous move, we had chips & queso and fried cheese. I personally preferred the queso, but both were cheesy deliciousness. At only $6 and $4 respectively, it’s a great way to start off the meal.

Choosing an entree was hard with such varied menu, but luckily their were five of us so we could all try something different. Andrew and I decided to split the lunch tacos and the lunch baos. Each meal is $8 during lunch and comes with three items of your choice, as well as a side. We went with two cauliflower chimichurri tacos, one mojo pork taco, two cheetah chicken baos, and one mojo pork bao.

This meal ended up being to die for! The highlight was the cheetah chicken baos, as they really have perfected such a crispy flavorful chicken. The cauliflower chimchurri was super flavorful and you wouldn’t know you are missing out on meat. My only complaint was that the tortillas were on the soggy side and fell apart, so you may want to ask for extra tortillas. We had so much food that I pretty much just ate the taco fillings and didn’t even mind!

My sister and mom both got savory burritos, but my dad’s meal was my favorite of everything I tried. He had the lunch Phanaeng Curry with fried chicken, spicy red curry and peanuts. This was by far the best curry I have had anywhere on the Space Coast! It was the ideal amount of spice and the chicken and peanuts to add some extra crunch to it. Also the portion was gigantic and only $13 so he easily had leftovers.

This meal cost $90 before tip for five meals, two appetizers and five alcoholic beverages! To me, that was an unbelievable deal. Keep in mind this was during lunch, but the dinner prices are only a few dollars more. Even better was how flavorful everything was. I was in a serious food coma afterwards!
