Beachfly Brewing Company at Indian Harbor Beach Review

It’s been almost a year since Beachfly Brewing Company came onto the Space Coast brewery scene and they’ve grown so much since! I have tried their beer a dozen or so times, including going to the brewery and at local events. They are currently the only beachside brewery south of Cocoa Beach and have a cute coastal theme to match.

If you are in the area visiting Intracoastal Brewing Company, it is worth it to take a trip over the bridge to Beachfly. Better yet, you could even bar hop and stop at Traditionals as well. Beachfly Brewing Company is still working up to the level of beer served at those two establishments, but if it continues with the track it’s on, it will surely become a brewery must-visit!

Location and Atmosphere

Beachfly Brewing Company is a few steps away from Canova Beach Park in Indian Harbor Florida. This makes it a great place to grab a beer after the beach. You can get a feel for it immediately with the colorful high tops and lights out front.

Inside, there are mainly tables and booths and a wraparound bar. Here, you get a nice view of the brewery equipment in the back. I do wish there were more windows inside, as it feels a bit dark at times. However, they have enough colorful touches to still feel like you are on island time. My favorite touch is that reggae music is almost always playing.

Beachfly Brewing Company Core Beers

Since Beachfly opened, it has offered a much larger variety of beer than I expected. I have seen all sorts of fruited beers and IPA’s that most other breweries around are not attempting. They do have a standard six beers always on tap, that I will call their core beers for now. This includes:

  • Turtle Trax Wheat Beer – 5% ABV, 15 IBU
  • Canova Sunrise Red Ale – 5.6% ABV, 29 IBU
  • Space Kolsch –  4.5% ABV, 23 IBU
  • Purple Porpoise Pale Ale – 5% ABV, 30 IBU
  • Indian Harbour Beach Pale Ale (Ihb)PA – 6.8% ABV, 62 IBU
  • Scallywag Foreign Extra Stout – 7.5% ABV, 54 IBU

All of these beers are solid options and most of them are pretty refreshing. They are definitely good beach beers! My favorite of these is the Purple Porpoise and Andrew’s is the Space Kolsch. Both are very clean and crisp.

I love the I(hb)PA name, but that IPA was lacking a bit for me. Their IPA’s could definitely use some work, but they have done some cool things with them.

You can get a pint for $6 or a flight of five 4 ounce beers for $10. They also offer half pints and growler fills as well. Since they are also a restaurant, they offer wine, soda and even domestic beer. I will look down on you if you order a But Light though! I would suggest a beer cocktail instead, where they mix their beer with juice or soda.

The Food Menu at Beachfly Brewing Company

I have only had the appetizers here, but there is actually a full dining menu. This can be ordered any time of day. If you want a snack you can get a number of items, like a soft pretzel, nachos, skewers or chips and dip.

The first time I came, we got the pretzel and the jalapeño poppers. The pretzel and the homemade beer cheese were amazing. On the other hand, the jalapeño peppers aren’t fried, they are just sliced and filled with cheese. This was not what I was expecting, and I didn’t love it the first time, but it’s actually grown on me a lot on future visits! I might even try making this as my phone healthy-ish snack at home.

As for entrees, Beachfly Brewing Company makes flatbreads, tacos, sandwiches and rice bowls. Everything is between $10 to $13, so you can have a very affordable meal here. I personally would go eat at a nearby, more food focused spot like The Cottage Irish Pub. If you are hungry though, you can definitely find something to eat.

My Favorites

The tap list changes often here, and I have found quite a few favorites. The first time I went, the Bine to Stein was the stand out beer. This wet-hopped pale ale was made with hops freshly picked from a Central Florida hop farm!

I was very excited to see Beachfly at the Run the Tide 10K we did a few months ago. There, they had a couple beers to drink after for free, and they were some of their best I have tried. This included:

  • Im-paw-star- A Papaya and Starfruit Table Beer
  • Dry Doubt Stout – A light Irish Dry Stout

Both beers were so delicious and unique! I was sad that it was 8 AM because I could not drink as much of it as I wanted to. By the time I made it back to the brewery, they were gone, but I will continue to look out for these ones in the future!

Of the current beers on tap, the Loquat I Did is my favorite. This is a sour beer with a slight sweetness. It’s only 3.5%, but very refreshing!

They also have a New England IPA called the Kitsch in Sync. It’s really not hazy or hoppy enough for me to consider it a New England IPA, but I enjoy the taste regardless.

Events and More

It has been exciting to see how many local events Beachfly Brewing Company has participated in already. In addition to the run they were at, we first saw them at the Rocky Water Brew Fest Before they were even open! I’m looking forward to seeing what they bring to this EGAD brew festival again this year.

Another festival Beachfly will be at is the Downtown Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. They will be cooking up something special along with dozens of other local restaurants! The event is November 16th and you can get tickets here before they sell out!

On a weekly basis, there is always something going on at the brewery! Live music is frequently performed on the weekend and they have a fun run every Thursday at 6 PM. Beachfly Brewing Company even has unique events like a beer tasting class at the end of the month for those who want to expand their pallets. There is always a reason to come check out this brewery!

Know Before You Go: Beachfly Brewing Company

I have always thought it was a missed opportunity that there were no breweries on the beachside of Melbourne, so I am glad Beachfly Brewing Company opened up here! It has been a welcome addition and we always appreciate the variety of their brews. If you are a local, expect to start seeing a lot more of them and if you are visiting, don’t hesitate to grab a beer after the beach. Here’s a few things to keep in mind before going:

  • Beachfly Brewing Company is open 4 – 10 PM Tuesday through Thursday, 12 – 11 PM Friday and Saturday and 11 – 8 PM on Sunday.
  • Seating is available inside and outside and dogs are allowed on the patio.
  • They have at least a dozen beers on tap costing $6 per pour.
  • Growler fills are overpriced in my opinion. Flight are a good deal for $10 for five 4 oz pours.
  • Wine is served for $8 per glass and beer cocktails are also available for $6.
  • Food is available at all times.
  • There is plenty of free parking, though you have to make a U-Turn if you are coming here from the Eau Gallie Causeway.
