STK at Disney Springs Review

I continue my quest to review every Disney Springs restaurant with this post about STK. It has taken a while for me to get this one, because it is a very upscale and pricey spot. I have heard reviews from people who love it, hate it and everything in between. After our Magical Dining Month meal here, we fall in the “in between” category as well.

STK at Disney Springs is one of the few restaurants that exists outside of Disney World, similar to Jaleo and the Rainforest Cafe. They are renowned for their top-notch steaks, craft cocktails and a chic vibe. It is definitely more of an adult-centric place than most Disney restaurants. Because of this, I would mainly recommend it to adult couples or groups looking for an elegant evening. However, I will explain below why you might want to do a happy hour test drive first.

Location and Atmosphere

You will have a hard time missing STK, as it is a giant brick building, visible from multiple parts of Disney Springs. It is located in the landing, nearby The Boathouse and Raglan Road. There’s a small patio outside, but most of the seating is inside.

One thing the STK brand is known for is live DJ music and a trendy atmosphere. A lot of this has been toned down a bit for Disney Springs. When the restaurant first opened, there were complaints of the music being too loud. When we visited last month, we could barely hear it, however, the ambient noise of patrons was very loud. We were also sitting very close together among a row of tables in the back.

My favorite part of STK is the rooftop. We have been up on the roof for drinks before and loved the chill atmosphere and the sprawling views. If you don’t mind eating outside, I encourage you to ask to sit up here, because the main dining room is not anything special.

STK at Disney Springs Menu

STK is a fancy steakhouse and is therefore one of the most expensive spots at Disney Springs. The appetizers are all over $15 and consist of a mix of salads, seafood and sliders. They also have a raw bar for if you want a surf and turf meal.

For main dishes, there is a variety of filets, sirloins and ribeyes ranging from a $39 flat iron to a $128 ribeye for two. This does not include a side, and those can be ordered separate from $10 and up. They have some tasty options like yukon potatoes and foraged mushrooms. I hear the dry-aged steaks are worth it, though the Magical Dining menu one we had was not. If you are a big steak fan, you may want to consider it.

For non-beef entrees, there are a couple chicken and seafood dishes, including a Chilean Seabass. For dinner, this is primarily a place for steak lovers, unless you come during Magical Dining, which I will get into below. However, if you go for lunch or brunch, you can find much more variety. STK offers seven different sandwiches and burgers ranging from $13 to $24, as well as a few other entrees under $25. There are also a few more options available for vegetarians during lunch and brunch, but still not many.

Our Experience with Magical Dining at STK

Though I have been to STK for drinks in the past on their rooftop bar, I had not been for a full meal. I still tend to see mixed reviews, and we rather go to Yachtman Steakhouse if we are going to Disney World for a steak dinner. Andrew and I decided to finally check it out this month for the STK magical dining menu.

This is one of the many restaurants that participated in Orlando Magical Dining month. What this means, is that you can get a $35 three course prix-fixe meal throughout the month of September. Out of the ten restaurants participating, STK at Disney Springs, offered some of the best value, as it is usually hard to even get a $35 entree here, never mind three courses.

Our meal started with cocktails and complimentary bread. I have been here before for drinks, and know they make some of the best in Disney Springs. I got the One Night Stand with tequila, blackberries and grapefruit juice and Andrew got the Rendezvous, with rum, oakheart and a mix of fruit juices. At $16, they are some of the more expensive drinks at Disney Springs, but the quality is definitely there.

We each wanted to order something different and share, so for starters we got the Lil BRG and the Toy Box Tomatoes. The former, was a singular waygu slider with cheese. The normal menu serves two of these for $19, so it’s almost a $10 value, but very minuscule. We much preferred the tomatoes which came with a Stracciatella cheese that was super tasty.

For entrees, I got the Angry Fried Chicken and Andrew got the Coffee-Spiced Dry-Aged Ribeye Steak. Considering this is a steakhouse, we were surprised to love the chicken and be disappointed by the steak. When it arrived, there was no sign of pink, despite the request for a medium-rare steak. The table seated closely next to us had the same issue. We all ended up sending them back and they came back slightly pinker. However, there were no flavors of coffee or dry aging, and it just seemed like a pretty basic, underwhelming steak.

We wrongly were thinking that the STK Magical Dining menu would give smaller portions of the same quality they usually have. That was what we saw last year at Morimoto. Unfortunately, they went the other way with a large entree steak of a much lower quality than normal. It was still a good meal for $35, but not what we expected. The Fried Chicken as shockingly good actually, but still not what you go to a steakhouse for.

We ended the meal with a Key Lime Dreamsickle and a Warm Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Both were a nice touch, but nothing spectacular. You would be better off going to Amorette’s for a pastry afterwards!

Specials at STK Orlando

In addition to lunch, brunch and Magical Dining Month, there are still other times you can get a deal at STK at Disney Springs. Happy Hour is another great time to go because the cocktails are half off and there are ten different appetizers costing between $5 and $8. I love this deal because the drinks are a highlight for me. Happy Hour goes on from 3:30 to 6 PM weekdays and 10 PM to close Thursday through Saturday. You have to dine at the bar at the upstairs lounge, but as I mentioned before, the atmosphere up here can be preferable.

If you have been wanting to dine here, I recommend going at one of these times first before dinner. I have not been here for $100 per person all-out steak dinner, but we did spend around $50 per person with cocktails here and were not super impressed. The reviews online are equally mixed, and I think part of that has to do with the fact that a lot of Disney clientele doesn’t fit the demographic STK at Disney Springs is going for. Still, Andrew and I are in that demographic, and would recommend Jaleo or Morimoto, over STK for a splurge at Disney Springs.

Know Before You Go: STK at Disney Springs

It’s too bad STK at Disney Springs did not serve a better steak for Magical Dining Month. It’s been a couple of years since we went to the Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club and Andrew is still raving about the Kansas City Strip Steak he had there! They will continue to reign supreme, since STK did not convince us otherwise. I do think STK is a cool place to visit at Disney Springs though, especially the rooftop area. Here is everything to know if you plan to dine at STK.

• STK at Disney Springs is open for lunch from 11 AM – 3 PM and dinner from 5 PM – Midnight. Brunch is available on Saturday and Sunday and has a special menu.
• Happy Hous is in the lounge from 3:30 to 6 PM on week days and 10 PM to midnight Thursday through Saturday.
• You may want to make a reservation here, up to 180 days in advance.
• The restaurant is located in the town center at Disney Springs and is closest to the Orange Garage.
• Seating is mainly inside with a small section outside and some on the roof.
• You do not need a park ticket or hotel reservation to dine here and parking is free.
• STK Orlando is part of the Disney Dining Plan and costs two table service credits.

I know these restaurants have a cult following in other parts of the country, so if you are someone who loves it, let me know why! I am hoping to go for brunch or lunch soon, and give them another try, but I still have so many restaurants to review!
