Traditionals Cuts, Shaves & Brews at EGAD Review
I have written about quite a few breweries on this blog, but I have yet to cover any craft beer bars. We have a few in our area, but Traditionals Shave, Cuts and Brews is one that holds a special place in my heart. This is because it is not only a bar, but also a barber shop. My husband Andrew has been getting his hair cut here for years!
Whether you want a haircut or a large selection of craft brews, this EGAD bar is the place to go. In addition to Andrew’s haircuts, we try and go at least once a month to see what unique beers they have on tap or in cans. There are so many great things to try at Traditionals, and I recommend visiting whether you are a local or just here for a day at the beach!
Location and Atmosphere
Traditionals is located in the heart of the Eau Gallie Arts District, next to The Standard Collective and across from FM Pizza Oven. Right when you walk in, the barber shop is on the right and the bar is straight ahead. It’s a small spot with a lot of character, as it has a punk rock theme. There are all sorts of old concert flyers on the wall that are fun to look at. The bathroom even has a big wall of records too!
Most people sit at the bar, but there is a seating area in the corner and some room to sit outside. I prefer inside because of the atmosphere and the music the bar plays. Sometimes there is a band playing next door to listen to though! I have to admit, I get tried of all the rustic and hipster themed bars, so Traditionals and it’s punk rock theme really offers a refreshing vibe! It’s a one of a kind Space Coast bar for sure.
The Menu at Traditionals
At Traditionals you will find variety of beer and wine options. They usually have a handful of beers on tap and then at least 30 offered in cans. The selection is frequently changing, so make sure to follow their Instragram to see out what’s in stock. It really varies between classics like Guinness and Sierra Nevada to more specialty brews like Collective Arts and Lord Hobo.
I have found Traditionals to be best place to get beer that I can’t find anywhere else on the Space Coast. They often have a couple of rare Hidden Springs brews or beers from other Tampa Bay breweries that we cannot get in stores here. I have even had my favorite my brewery, Civil Society on tap here. They also support the local breweries as well, like Intracoastal Brewing and Hell ‘n Blazes. It’s a one stop shop for whatever beer you are in the mood for!
They also offer a small wine selection, and usually have a few options for red and white wine and even rose. I usually get the White Girl Rose on the rare occasion I am not in the mood for a beer. They also are starting to get more hard seltzer options as well. On special occasions, Colleen the bartender will even make a sangria or jello shots!
Traditionals Cut Shaves and Brew Barbershop
For those looking to get a haircut or a shave here, there are a few options. Becca is an amazing barber and Andrew can’t imagine going anywhere else! He usually just gets a cut for $20. I love that she uses a straight razor for the back of the neck hair. He always looks so fresh after a Traditionals haircut!
You can get the full cut and shave and even add a bourbon to it for the full experience! That’s $45 and perfect for special occasions. She will even do haircuts for kids if you want yours to look sharp. The only thing to keep in mind is to make your appointment on Facebook in advance. Traditionals is typically booked and they rarely have times for walk-ins.
Events and More
Another thing I love about this bar is how they have different events going on, like pop-up shops, metal yoga and more! The tap takeovers are pretty popular and these have been done for a few breweries. It is one of the only opportunities to get a flight of beer here and taste a variety. I especially loved the Collective Arts Tap Takeover because we got these awesome pint glasses to take home with our beer!
There are events going for holidays too and Traditionals celebrates in a variety of ways. This includes Ugly Sweater parties around Christmas and Ghouls Night Outs for Halloween. They even partake in many of the Eau Gallie Arts Districts events. In the past, we like to come here after Whiskey in the District or the Rocky Water Brew Fest and get a break from the heat outside. Traditionals has become a community crowd pleaser for many reasons.
Know Before You Go: Traditionals Cuts, Shaves & Brews
Even though the Space Coast has many great breweries, this beer bar is a way to try many of them at once. It’s rare that I don’t find at least one knew to me beer every time I go. This is the first place we check to see about new Florida brewery releases, so it really is a must-visit for local craft beer lovers. Between the awesome drink selection, the unique atmosphere, the friendly staff and even the professional haircuts, there is something for everyone at Traditionals. Here’s a few things to keep in mind before going.
- Traditionals is open for haircuts Tuesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM. The bar opens at 4 PM Wednesday and Thursday, and 2 PM Friday Saturday and Sunday and closes at midnight. The bar is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- If you want to book a haircut, you have to do it ahead of time through the Traditionals Facebook page.
- Seating is mainly inside, but there is a small amount outside where dogs are allowed.
- There are at least 30 different beer options in can or on tap. You can also order wine, hard seltzers and ciders.
- Traditionals does not offer food, but there are numerous places around EGAD to get before or after.
